Shana McColclough-Young

Teacher Assistant

Shana Colclough-Young joined ACCESS Academy as a Teacher Assistant in August 2024. Before joining the ACCESS Academy team, Shana worked as a Paraprofessional at an Alternative School in Atlanta, GA, for six years. During this time, she created a supportive and encouraging learning environment where students were motivated to turn negative behaviors around and grow socially, academically, and vocationally. Her goal was to help students become better decision-makers, succeed in a global economy, and contribute positively to society through positive behavior reinforcement, rewards, incentives, and strong involvement from parents, the community, and base schools.

Shana is currently a junior at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro, AR, where she is pursuing a Bachelor of General Studies with a primary emphasis in Education and a secondary emphasis in Social Science.

When Shana is not serving the ACCESS mission, she enjoys being a mom to her son, who has learning delays. Thanks to her experiences with her son, she is patient and understanding with her students. Shana is passionate and enthusiastic about her students' learning every day.
