High School Class Web Site
Academics taught in a more functional manner is the key to using the skills you have gained in the real world. The ACCESS high school classroom integrates reading and writing skills into real-life situations. One example of this is the classroom Web site.
Getting Web Savvy
Using iWeb, a Web-authoring program available on Mac computers, the ACCESS students have generated their own Web site. Several pages of the site describe areas of study and have lots of photos of our students actively involved in learning.
One of the most popular areas on the class Web site is the blog. It can be a challenge to get older students really involved in creative writing – or actually any writing activity! The ACCESS teachers are using school Web site as a tool to encourage writing. It has been very successful. Students are really anxious to write a blog and post it on the site.
