Join ACCESS for upcoming Founders Series Professional Education Courses, appropriate for professionals or parents. Presenters: Janice Edmonson, M.S., CCC-SLP, and Shalene Hammons April 9, 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. This course is designed for the novel technology user. Maximize the resources available to you! Use simple word processing or presentation software with students to expand your teaching repertoire and encourage struggling students to read, comprehend, write and utilize study skills. Each participant will leave with templates that can be customized to meet the needs of students. A hands-on lab will allow participants to experience these applications both individually and in an interactive group. Presenters: Monika Garner-Smith, M.Ed; Tammy Simmons, M.S., CCC-SLP; and Cindy Young, M.S.E., CCC-SLP Date/Time TBD Classic children’s literature is a valuable tool to enhance the language skills of language-impaired students. A multisensory framework will be demonstrated to enhance the oral and written communication skills of young students. Customizing the curriculum to organize the language for concepts across the curriculum allows students to not only participate in academics, but also learn information needed to excel. Participants will explore formats for presenting teaching materials to encourage language development and comprehension, as well as oral and written expression. Participants will receive a sample lesson demonstrating the therapy and teaching principles discussed in the training. [Note: Additional teaching and therapy materials will be available for purchase at this workshop.]
