Horticulture
The ACCESS Gardens horticultural program offers weekly gardening lessons along with a vocational education course. The coursework uses a textbook and lab book written by Norma Simmons, vocational education instructor, and Tammy Simmons, ACCESS executive director and co-founder. In conjunction with academic work, the school greenhouse and garden area offer a hands-on laboratory for learning and practicing horticulture principles.
Students learn about basic plant care, propagation, container garden design, lawn care maintenance, landscaping and floral design.
