Gardening

The ACCESS Gardens are an outdoor classroom. Students learn about more than plants and science in this horticultural setting. They learn about responsibility, self discipline, math and literature. Weekly gardening lessons focus on specific areas of horticulture. Various gardens are assigned to classrooms and are linked to the curriculum. Garden areas include a bird sanctuary, vegetable and plant gardens, a compost station and a worm farm.
ACCESS Gardens are also a home to the ACCESS worm farm. Castings are used to make an organic fertilizer, which is then used in the school gardens and horticulture crops. This product, Don's T, is available for sale at during plant sales.
