Reading

The Association Method is a phonetic, multi-sensory teaching strategy designed specifically for students with language learning differences. Teachers and speech therapists have all been certified to use this method to teach reading.

The Association Method is implemented using a systematic manner. Instruction progresses from individual speech sounds, to syllables, words of gradually increasing length, basic sentences and questions, and more advanced sentences and stories. Ultimately, students begin using traditional textbooks when basic reading skills are mastered.

The Association Method is used commonly with the following disorders:

  • Hearing Impairment
  • Severe articulation disorders
  • Apraxia of Speech
  • Language Disorders
  • Aphasia
  • Learning Disabilities
  • Dyslexia
  • English as a Second Language (ESL)
