Vocational Education
ACCESS vocational education program provides students with work experiences while teaching basic employment skills. The curriculum is designed to teach independence and communication- matching educational strengths with work-related activities.
The ACCESS Upper School classroom is designed to help students achieve their highest level of independence in activities of daily living, leisure skills and vocational development.
This classroom is for students who are high-school eligible (Grades 9-12). These students need a curriculum that is strongly focused on applied academics; using project -based learning, students incorporate academic and job skills into academic projects, helping students develop leisure, employment and daily living skills. This classroom also emphasizes social skills and coping strategies. These skills are needed to foster better relationships with people in the community, work and home environments.
