Preschool

The small child-to-staff ratio at ACCESS allows teachers to provide an individualized education rich with music, art, movement and technology. The curriculum is specifically designed for all learning styles; auditory, tactile and visual learners are equipped with materials needed to learn.
ACCESS Preschool classes are taught with a teacher and a teaching assistant assigned to each class. Teachers have access to additional staff members to allow for frequent one-on-one interaction. Classes for students age 2 and older are taught by a master’s level educator.
Did you know?
Vocabulary at age 3 is an indicator of reading comprehension of a 9- or 10-year-old student.
The No. 1 predictor of reading failure is the lack of phonemic awareness in preschool. (Phonemic awareness is the ability to identify and manipulate units of oral language, such as words, syllables, onsets and rhymes. Children who have phonemic awareness can recognize that sentences are made up of words, words can be broken down into sounds and syllables, sounds can be deleted from words to make new words, and different words can begin or end with the same sound or have the same middle sound.)
Early intervention with children who have speech and language disorders can mean those children have a better chance to succeed in academic subjects as they mature. The ACCESS Preschool curriculum is designed specifically with those children in mind. Whether ACCESS Preschool students have learning disabilities or not, however, they consistently enter kindergarten with an advantage over their peers, a direct result of the multi-sensory approach.
In addition, ACCESS Preschool provides the immediate opportunity to engage in individual sessions with the on-site therapy team.
