Intermediate School
The Intermediate School is generally considered the upper elementary and middle school grades at ACCESS Academy, although, again, the classrooms do not follow a traditional division by student age. In addition to the main Academy curriculum, these classrooms focus on generalizing concepts, working within groups and using technology more heavily in the completion of projects. Some students who need a more structured educational environment to work on reading, comprehension and written expression may attend ACCESS Academy up to and through these classrooms and then transfer to a public or private school setting for middle school or high school. These classes prepare students to either pursue a traditional high school diploma elsewhere or continue to the ACCESS Academy Upper School classrooms, which offer a General Equivalency Diploma program and vocational education. (Graduates from the Upper School receive a certificate of completion; GED testing is not administered at ACCESS.)
The Intermediate School 1 classroom serves students ages 9-12 who are at the basic and intermediate levels of instruction for The Dubard Association Method®. This curriculum is designed for students who are not independent and require more guidance and small group instruction.
The Intermediate School 2 classroom serves students ages 9-12 who are at the intermediate and advanced levels of instruction for The Dubard Association Method®. More emphasis is placed on large group instruction in this classroom. Special needs are met in small group instruction. Students in this classroom exhibit more independence in their learning and study skills.
